Not all sales copy is created equal. Ask any MLM marketer and they will most likely tell you that they tried several versions of their sales letter before finding one that really works. Here’s your chance to learn from their mistakes! Use these ten copywriting tips to craft compelling copy:
- Copy from the best. You need to be looking for good copy that you can use as reference. When you find these sales letters or ads save them in a swipe file. Use this file to help you get ideas for your next campaign copy. You don’t want to plagiarize another copywriter’s work, but you can rework the copy for your needs.
- Know whom you are writing for. The better you understand who your copy is written for the more compelling your ad or sales letter will be. Don’t assume you know your target market or that you are part of it. Research their likes, dislikes, interests, lifestyle, age and other demographics. You can find your target market in forums asking questions everyday. Take the time to know them and your copy will be better for it.
- Start with a compelling headline. If they don’t read the headline then they will never see you ad or sales letter. Start by brainstorming several headline ideas. Create headlines around the main benefit of your ad. Combine several ideas together. There is no one-way to get the attention of your target market for your opportunity. “How To” are great headline starts. When you are done test the various combination you have developed.
- Know what you want them to do. What do you want the person who will visit your site or read your ad to do? What action step? Knowing this will help you in writing your ad copy or sales letter. Once you know what you want them to do, make sure you tell them exactly what you want them to do. Not all actions steps lead to a buying opportunity. You may want them to give you their name and email in this first visit.
- Know your competitors. Look at what your competitors are offering. Study their offer and how much they are charging for it. Use this information to tailor your ad copy better to what your customers want, modify your offering or the price.
- Answer objections before they come up. Anticipating your prospects objections will help your sales letter. Before you write your copy make a list of possible objections and a written response to each. By answering these objections your message will become more effective and will lead to more sales.
- Testimonials can be powerful ad-copy. Make it your practice to follow-up with each new customer and get his or her testimonial. This can be a wonderful way to show a new lead what you have to offer and what others have done with it. Everyone likes to be reassured by others that they are doing the right thing. That the person giving the testimonial was in a similar situation before they purchased your service or network marketing opportunity and that you helped them.
