If you have decided to try your hand at article marketing there are a few things you should know. It isn’t as simple as throwing several articles together and mass submitting them to a bunch of article directories. To get the best results, you need to focus on quality rather than quantity.

Don’t worry about giving away too much information in your articles, as imparting useful information will help bond you with the reader and entice them to visit your site.

When it comes to article marketing, one of the most important aspects is the resource box at the end of your article. This is where you need to put in a lot of trial and error to find text that converts the best for you. An important tip is to make your resource box sound like a continuation of your article and answers the question posed by your title or keyword, rather than including biographical information about yourself.

Getting ranked on the 1st page is every the goal of every online marketer.  Article marketing can be one path to get you there.  Lets go through an easy 3-step process using articles to help you rank on the 1st page of Google.

1. Keyword research is the starting point.  You want to make it easy for Google to find you and use a keyword that everyone is using in his or her search.  There is no reason to write an article on a subject that no one is looking for.  The great thing about the Internet is that the information about what people are looking for is right there for you to find.  You can use several keyword research tools both paid and free.  Google keyword search tool is very good and free (we like that).  Just put the search term you are thinking of basing you article on.  For example you could put in “MLM Training” and Google will give you all the keywords that have been search that have MLM Training in it and will rank them.  Google will also give you additional keywords to consider.  The longer the keyword the more specific the keyword and the search being done by the end user and the easier it will be to rank for that keyword.  As you get more specific you narrow your target audience and the competition become less crowded.
2. Now that you have your keyword you want to create content around the keyword.  Write your article focusing on three main ideas.  You want to have the keyword in the title, in the first three lines of the first paragraph and near the bottom of the article.  Do not stuff the keyword everywhere.  Google has algorithms that will look at content and how many a time a keyword shows up in any content also known as keyword density.  If your keyword density is too high they will penalize your article.  Your keyword should not show up more than 4 to 6 times in your article.  Of course you want to the article interesting and informative because the ultimate goal is to show the reader your expertise and have them go to website to learn about you and your offer.
3. Publish it everywhere.  There are several articles directories that you want to publish it on, Ezinearticle and Article Base to name just two.  Do a search for article directories for a complete list of article directories.  You can also use it on your blog.  You have spent time putting this content together so use it in as many places as your can.  A fantastic idea is to make a short video about your article and post it on YouTube channel.  You can announce it on your Facebook page and in forums.  The wide the audience the more likely Google and others will notice you.  Attracting leads to you is the name of the game.

A easy 3-step process to help you rank on the first page of Google.  Begin with good keywords that people are using in their searches, include those keywords in your article, especially the title and publish it everywhere you can.  Don’t let your writing skills stop you form writing article.  It is a skill that you will improve upon over time.  As they say at Nike: “Just Do It”.

If you get the chance – no let me rephrase when you go to a conference for your primary MLM business be ready for a new perspective on your network marketing business.  You can’t help but grow your business after a conference.  The conference gives you a chance at a fresh start, to reenergize you and network with other people and develop new ideas for your marketing campaigns.  It is something you want to do at least once a year; 3 reasons why.

1. No matter how much or little success you have had you can start again.  A friend of mine told me that if I never give up I would always win.  That is how you can look at your conference.  It is a chance to wipe your slate clean.  You get a chance to get out of your office/cave that you have been working in for the last several months writing article, making videos, & creating email campaigns. Staying in your office can crimple your creativity.  New scenery is just what the doctor ordered.  While you are taking care of your business don’t forget to take care of you and your significant other who has been waiting for you to emerge from your cave.  Not only will the conference will the change spark your creativity but also it will energize you.
2. You can’t help but be energized when you are in a room full of people that think like you think.  They are all in the same spot to learn, to celebrate and network with others from around the country or the world.  Yes the conference is part show and PR but there is information and more importantly there are people you can discuss your strategies with.  You can exchange ideas about what is working with you and where it is not.  This feedback is priceless.  You get a chance to talk about your marketing campaigns and why they are not working.  The odds are high that someone else in the group has tried the same campaign and can give you pointers.  You are not a lone and a conference will prove it.  What is also great being at a conference is the new ideas that you can generate.
3. You have a room full of people with ideas and when you start talking about those ideas it helps stimulate other ideas.  Just a one-day conference can replace a month’s worth of webinar training.  Brainstorming with others just like yourself can be incredibly helpful to you network marketing business.  Go to the conference with the mission to meet ten new people.  That should not be hard.  You in a room full of networkers who job it is to meet new people.  Invite several to lunch and just start talking about your campaigns.  You will find them to very open and honest about what they do.  When you are facing the world everything is up and rosy but when you among your peers you get a chance to let your hair and talk about your business.  It can turn into a mini-mastermind group.  The ideas and suggestions will fire your imagination and propel your business to new levels.  Not to mention the competition factor; you want to brag a little at the next conference about your accomplishments.

Stop making excuses and book your conference.  You can’t afford not to go.  If you want to succeed in this business networking with your peers is a top priority.  Tools you will need are: plenty of paper, a camera to photograph top earners to put on your website, and money for drinks you are going to buy other top earners to get all their ideas out of them.  Don’t forget to have fun.

Making a switch from a 9 to 5 job to a MLM business can seem challenging but there a few simple steps that you need to do to establish your presence both on and offline.  Whether you are doing this full or part time, these steps will help your business.

1. Get a domain name. In fact you will want to own several domain names.  You can do this at many places and it is very easy.  Godaddy.com is a great place to research them and buy them.  You do not need all the bells and whistles that they will push at you.  A standard package will work just fine.  You want to try to have a domain name that includes the keyword you are going to try to rank on Google for.  If you were using MLM training, you would search for available domains that contain those words (i.e. mlmtrainingcenter.com or mlmtrainingdirect.com).
2. Once you have your domain name you need to host it somewhere.  All that means is you need a internet company with servers that will store your domain and give you an address that will link your domain to the Internet.  You can get a basic package for about $9 per month for a company like HostGator.  Don’t worry if you do not know how to set it up right away that will come with time and necessity.  For now you can get all the technical muscle from Elance.com.  This is a site that has hundreds and thousand of webmasters and other tech skills you can use to set-up your hosting site, email & website/blog.
3. Once you have your domain hosted you can create your blog.  You may have a site from your MLM Company but this is not how you are going to brand yourself.  Most of these sites are static and they let you change the picture or add a video.  The search engines know this and will not rank it very high.  You need a site that you can control and post unique content that can point back to your company site.  You want the ability to collect names and email addresses for your own list.  A blog can help your MLM business in ways you will discover as you grow in this business.
4. You want to create an email with your domain, but you will need an additional one. The first email is your branded business email.  Use this on your advertising, website, & business cards.  The other email will be a Gmail account and will allow you to use all the tools that Google has to offer.  You also want to use this one when you sign up for various sites for information or traffic sites.  This will cut down spam to your business email.
5. The same reason you want two emails you want two phone numbers.  There will be people you want to have direct access to you with your direct line or cell phone.  This could be your downline and important consultants.  But vendors you may want to filter with a phone service that you can screen before you answer.  Having a 2nd line will make the transition to an answering service for when you grow larger.  There are many online services where you can get your phone service.  You can even get your own 800 number for less than $10 per month up to $25 per with services that will forward calls to you or anyone else you chose.
6. Business cards are still a great way to brand you.  If you have done everything previously mentioned in this article then you can list it on your business card.  Get many of them and hand them out. They only work when you give them out or drop them where people will see it.  I have seen many a businessperson who has hundreds of business cards in their office older than 6 months.  If you have them give them out.  They’re cheap advertising.

This is your business so treat it like one.  You need a presence both online and offline.  You do that with a domain names based on a money keyword; hosting it on a server of your choosing that you control; creating your blog to get your message out which will link back to you MLM opportunity; provide access through your email and telephone numbers and don’t forget your business card to hand out to everyone you know and talk to.  All these steps will get your brand out for people to see.

As a network marketer you spend a large chunk of change on marketing.  Squidoo is a no cost way to market yourself and your opportunity.  I knew nothing of Squidoo until a couple of months ago.  But I got training on it and how it can help your marketing business.  It costs nothing and it is one more way to market You, Inc to the world.  Lets start with what is Squidoo.

Squidoo is a content sharing site that you can use to share any type of content pictures, articles, blog post, video, etc.  The search engines like Squidoo lens because of the variety of content on them.  They pull content from Squiddo lens and display them as search results.  You can set-up a variety of lens on any topic you like.

That is why is so good to use.  You can create a lens about yourself.  You can publish a personal Bio and pictures or videos.  Tell about yourself and what you do and why you do it.  It is always a good idea when you are branding yourself.  You can also create a lens for network marketers and publish information to help them with their marketing.  Then provide links back to your landing pages.  Your leads can get a very clear picture of who you are and what you have to offer them.  You are showing them what they can create with Squidoo and how you can help them.  How should you use it?  Start with a lens about yourself.
Create you first lens and fill out your profile completely, including a picture of yourself.  If you haven’t by now you should have a profile word document, because all the social networking sites have the same information and you want to be consistent.

You display information on Squidoo with modules.  You want to provide a mix of information on your site.  Start with a text module where you can talk about yourself a little more may be focus on a hobby or something outside of work you like to do.  You add pictures to these modules to make it more personal.  You can also add video module from your YouTube channel about your opportunity.  Squidoo will have the most popular lens displayed when you first create the lens.  You can delete these if you do not need them.

You can add a module t show links to your websites, your blog , your network marketing opportunity to name a few.  You can increase you search engine results by getting backlinks from other lens.  Visit other lens and leave a comment and a link to your own lens.  Do not just leave a comment for the backlink.  This is a social network and developing relationships is the name of the game.  So take a little time to get to know other Lens Masters and the content they have and let them know what you learned or how it was helpful.

Even if you have used up your monthly marketing budget you can use Squiddo to expand your presence on the Internet.  It costs nothing to use and the search engines love them.  Create interesting lens that will attract other people to look and leave a comment.  The watchword is good content.  Spend a few minutes each day looking at lenses and leaving comments so others will go and look at your lens.  Don’t abuse this part.  Only leave a comment if you have something interesting to say.  Treat their lens as if it was your own.
